Nether Commissioners to Discuss 310 Wallingford Ave. Plans Thursday

The five-acre parcel at 310 Wallingford Avenue, for decades an overgrown and underused tangle of woodland, has recently become the object of much attention from Nether Providence residents, particularly those in the township’s South Media and Moylan sections which adjoin the plot. Next week, at their regular monthly legislative session on Thursday, April 25, Nether Providence Commissioners will decide whether to refer plans for the property to township and county zoning panels for consideration.

Progressive Housing Ventures, led by developer Sarah Peck, is equitable owner of the property, whose R-3 zoning would allow for construction of up to ten homes on the site. This “by rights” development was what Peck originally proposed. More recently, Progressive presented the township commissioners with a sketch of a higher density development envisioning 32 homes, which could only be built at 310 if zoning were changed to R-5. Neighbors favoring both the by-rights and rezoned plans are expected to attend and express their positions at the Thursday meeting, which is open to the public.
