SUMC Invites You to Classical Concert Next Sunday
Swarthmore United Methodist Church is presenting a special musical event for the congregation and the entire community on Sunday, October 27, beginning at 5 p.m. in the church sanctuary at 129 Park Avenue.
Flutist Frances Tate, from the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, is a Swarthmore resident and an active teacher and performer in the Philadelphia area. She will play selections by Mozart, Copland, and Böhm.
Also on the program are a very compelling dramatic tenor, Yungbae Yang, music director at Emmanuel Church in Philadelphia, and a beautiful lyric coloratura soprano Eunmi Shin, soloist at Emmanuel Church. Both have extensive opera credits on their resumes. They will sing various opera selections by Cilea, Händel, Verdi, and more.
YunJoung Park, who is music director at Swarthmore United Methodist Church and herself a wonderfully talented pianist, will accompany these three guests and perform a piano piece by Chopin.
There is no charge for the concert, but a free will offering will be taken. A reception of light refreshments will follow, and childcare is provided. Please plan to attend this very special event and encourage your friends and neighbors to join you.
